Texas barbecue has gotten a lot of press in recent years. Most people have heard of the famous lines at Franklin BBQ, it even made it into the movie Chef and was visited by President Obama. I myself have visited Snow’s in Lexington, and Kreuz Market and Black’s in Lockhart as well as Saltlick in Driftwood. I was super excited when they opened their new location in Round Rock, which is much closer to my house.
If you live in North Austin then you might have heard of John Brotherton’s famous burnt brisket that had people lining up for hours when he hosted several pop-up restaurants at the Growler Bar. He has since partnered with Black Iron Eats in Pflugerville to create Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue, so you don’t have to wait a month to get a taste of that deliciousness, which is super exciting for Texas BBQ lovers.
I wrote this article for Wide Open Country that details quite a few more spots around Texas. Have you been to any of these places? Leave a comment about your experience!
