Born in South Texas, Elizabeth Abrahamsen has been writing ever since the age of six when her first grade teacher forced her to learn how. She has been married since 2007, and is mom to three awesome kids. Liz (as she’s known to her friends) helped launch Wide Open Country in 2015, starting out as a contributor and eventually being promoted to staff writer. For Wide Open Country Liz mostly wrote Texan-centered lifestyle content including many irreverent Buzzfeed style listicles. Click here to see her author page on Wide Open Country.

Liz has been on the periphery of political activism since 2011 when she worked as the Marketing Coordinator for Texas PTA. Most recently she gave testimony in opposition to the permitless carry bill passed by the Texas House in 2021.

Liz has been volunteering with her church since 2014, and is particularly passionate about the Moms of Pre Schoolers (MOPS) ministry, Grief Share, and Celebrate Recovery. She is currently serving as the MOPS Coordinator for Grace Covenant Church.

Liz has given her testimony several times, and spoken to various groups regarding a variety of topics.
